Meriah is a 50 foot Herreshoff Ketch designed in 1935 and built in Victoria in 1969. She is constructed of strip-planked red cedar on oak with interior of cedar, mahogany and teak salvaged from the historic B.C. coastal steamship, Cardina. Accomodations are spacious, warm and inviting with two private double cabins, salon setee and table, library setee, chart table, galley, heads and pilothouse with pilot berth.

Captain Larry Peck with his wife Nicky will be preparing Meriah for offshore cruising together with their three year old daughter, Victoria Christina. Look for their journal, maps & photos on this site. They are expecting to spend up to 10 years sailing and exploring around the world. Anticipated departure from British Columbia is September 2002. Larry grew up in the Gulf of Saint Lawrence region of Canada's east coast. He has sailed most of his life and been in the passenger and charter business for over 25 years. Nicky is from the Netherlands and loves the seafaring life. In 1986 she was Dutch national sailing champion in the 12 foot International Dinghy Class.
